On Oct. 18 Oxford’s Friends4Hope Club, an on-campus organization that supports and plans events for the students of Hope High School, hosted the Hope Homecoming. The Hope homecoming is an opportunity for Friends4Hope to connect with the students of Hope High and create meaningful memories they can look back on from high school. Hope students were hosted in the Oxford gym and quad, where Friends4Hope hosted the annual Hope School basketball game. During which students from Hope and Oxford joined together to play in an exciting match as well as watch the energetic halftime show performed by the Hope cheerleaders! After the game, the Hope school crowned its Homecoming king and queen, and from then on the night was filled with even more fun, laughter, and of course, dancing! “Hope hoco to me is a celebration of welcome and fun into the new school year with Hope students,” Friends4Hope Vice President, Jenevive Urfano said. “It is no doubt one of my favorite events of the entire year; the basketball game, the hoco court announcements, and the dance are all special but a few things that I will always cherish the most, are the enormous smiles and crazy dance moves that I see coming from our entire Hope fam.”
“My favorite part about coming here [Hope Homecoming] is watching my friends play basketball and seeing them have fun!” Hope student Kaden said.
“Hope Hoco to me is very important bc the event provided me with an opportunity to connect with Hope Kids, further than just planning the event, and also built a memorable experience creating an inclusive family experience for me and the Hope kids.” Friends4Hope board member, Brandy Nguyen said.
Hope cheerleader, Xiomara said, “I like performing during halftime because I get to dance.”
Through smiles, laughter, and dance, Hope homecoming is a great opportunity for students from all different backgrounds to come together and make everlasting high school memories.
