AUHSD, ASTA issue joint announcement

The Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees has rescinded all Reduction in Force notifications. This was announced via a joint statement from Superintendent Michael Matsuda and Anaheim Secondary Teachers Association President Geoff Morgenstern at the end of the school day on Friday, May 10.

“After deep consideration and dialogue among stakeholder groups, the Board of Trustees has decided to rescind its previously approved decision to reduce permanent and probationary teachers,” the district-wide email read.

Nathan Perera, Arts & Entertainment Editor

Passionate, bold, and driven by his interests, Nathan Perera is this year’s A&E editor. His favorite type of article to write for his section is reviews of music; his favorite artist is Lana del Rey, but he also enjoys Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and Rosalía. Of course, as a staffer on the Gamut, he’s a seasoned lover of reading and writing—some of his favorite books are A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Sadie, and The Silent Patient, and they’ve inspired him to write with creative freedom in the paper. Even though he appreciates well-written books, Nathan’s taste also runs to the “so bad it’s good” side of things, such as reality shows and Twilight. Outside of the Gamut, he’s the president of Film Club and is a member of Fashion Club and FBLA. In his spare time, he’s also interested in researching linguistics, specifically niche languages. Nathan is undecided on a career path, but right now, his main focus is balancing doing well in school and dedicating a lot of time to the Gamut.

Celine Park, Staff Writer

Celine Park, who is currently a sophomore, chose to join the Gamut when Mrs. Galvan, previous Gamut adviser and her english teacher, suggested she join. Now in her second year as a writer for Oxford Academy’s school newspaper, she is looking forward to bonding with all the Gamut staff. “Chronically online,” Celine says she enjoys arts and crafts, however more specifically she has been into creating her own nails. She also says she’s been in Speech and Debate for 4 years, RSVP, and KCA which is a club dedicated to spreading awareness about Korean Culture. She also says she is also been really involved in FBLA. Her music taste consists of artists like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Laufey, and has recently been listening to Ariana Grande. She’s also a part of the Sophmore Class Committe where she helps plan events for all the sophmores. She’s currently looking forward to GamSlam and basically all events/competitions this year.

Isabella Sanchez, Podcast Producer

Now in her second year at Gamut, Isabella Sanchez has stepped into her role as the podcast producer, blending her passions for storytelling and art. As an illustrator, Isabella loves turning writers’ ideas into intriguing visuals, especially for the op-ed section. Her artistic talent extends beyond illustration; she loves crocheting and playing the guitar and piano. Isabella’s bubbly spirit shines through her daily lifestyle, as she hopes to decorate her room with yellow, natural environments, and stars. Involved in the robotics club, Isabella embraces her STEM side and aims to become an astronaut, swimming among the starry expanse of space. A lover of science fiction, a fan of Frank Sinatra, and a foodie (she loves pineapple on pizza), Isabella hopes to broaden her perspective on the world and uncover new interests. Geared up with her trusty Doc Martens, she always lives by her motto of “Expect the unexpected,” capturing her approach to life - open, curious, and always ready for the next adventure.
