Seniors! Junior year is finally behind you, and now it’s time to make the most of your last year of high school and celebrate how far you have come before you walk across the graduation stage. Grab your friends, a poster board, markers, and let these ideas help you get started on creating the perfect senior bucket list!
Check off the clichés
Found in nearly all coming-of-age novels and movies, some traditions are quintessential to the high school experience, and this is the last chance to live them yourself.
Despite Oxford’s lack of a football team, you can still enjoy the staple of American Friday night games by heading to Western High School just a few blocks away.
On campus, show your Patriot pride at every opportunity — dress up on theme days and scream your lungs out during class chants. Attend every single big school event, from prom, sports games, orchestra and choir shows, to, of course, GamSlam. Participate in all senior traditions, including senior sunrise and sunset, skip day, and senior assassin!
Capture every minute
Keep track of everyday moments and special milestones with your friends. Start with senior bingo! Fill the board with predictions, like how many times a friend skips class or who will finish their college applications at the last minute.
Have a camera handy! Take weekly photos of your friends’ candid moments and tuck them into a scrapbook or memory box with other tangible keepsakes. Also, vlog as much as possible! Fill your camera roll, and compile it all into a senior movie to revisit by the end of the year.
Finally, nothing ties the year together quite like a soundtrack. Invite your friends and start curating an ongoing playlist. Mix in iconic graduation songs, such as Lorde’s Ribs, ABBA’s Slipping Through My Fingers, and Hannah Montana’s You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home, for extra tears as you press play on graduation night.
Celebrate the last hoorah
As the big day nears, gather friends to watch iconic graduation scenes from coming-of-age films and childhood shows, like High School Musical 3 and Disney sitcoms, for a dose of nostalgia.
Organize creative potlucks, whether everyone is cooking dishes from their culture, assigning meals in alphabetical order, or decorating themed plates and charcuterie boards.
And don’t skip out on the holidays. This Halloween might be your last socially acceptable chance to trick-or-treat, so go all out with group costumes. On Valentine’s Day, go back in time to elementary school by decorating paper bags and exchanging goodie bags.
Last, celebrate the big senior-year milestones. Take graduation photos in your cap and gown, and dig out old photos to recreate. And of course, graduate! Walk across that stage proudly as you head off into the next chapter (or a summer grad-trip for one last adventure)!
Your senior bucket list should reflect you, so tailor these ideas to fit your own year. This is the end of the road, seniors! Check every item off your bucket list, knowing you have experienced this year to the fullest with lasting memories and the people you love!
