Dr. Hind, now in her 28th year of teaching, is the cherished advisor of the Gamut, where she channels her deep passion for journalism, creativity, and her students. Dr. Hind’s love for writing and journalism was evident from an early age when she crafted and assembled her own newspaper as a child. This passion evolved into a professional career as a journalist, where she gained invaluable experience that she now imparts to her students. As the Gamut’s advisor, Dr. Hind emphasizes the importance of ethical journalism while also ensuring her students find joy in the process, nurturing not only writers but thoughtful creators. Beyond her remarkable teaching, Dr. Hind is a lover of all genres of music, with a particular affinity for punk. She’s also a photographer with a special interest in capturing landscapes and the beauty of the mundane. At Oxford, Dr. Hind draws inspiration from the kindness and enthusiasm of her students. She encourages them to embrace failure as a vital part of learning, urging them to be ambitious and “fail spectacularly,” as it is through their missteps that they will achieve the most growth.
