Equipped with a plethora of yogurt flavors and toppings, the latest Oxford Academy cafeteria update has arrived: the custom breakfast yogurt parfait bar! Exclusively available to early-birds who arrive timely enough to stop by the cafeteria for breakfast options, the bar has become a student sensation.
Oxford students are well aware of the standard, uniform yogurt parfaits served in breakfast lines. With the addition of the custom yogurt parfait bar, the days of dreary parfait clones are over.
Open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the bar is located on the left-hand side of the cafeteria, welcoming hungry, exhausted students with a variety of nutritional and scrumptious toppings and flavors, adding to the bar’s engagement and appeal. Students are given the choice of various yogurt flavors — like vanilla, strawberry, banana, and peach — and can garnish them with delectable fruits, grains, and toppings like honey and cinnamon to adhere to their preferences.
The groundbreaking yogurt project originated from the mind of Oxford’s beloved cafeteria services manager, Mrs. Camarillo.
“I noticed the breakfast sales were kind of low, so I wanted to find something that would increase sales a little bit. So the only options I have [are] to take the foods that we already have and kind of mix and match a little bit to create something new. So I just thought that yogurt parfait bar was the best idea that I could come up with,” Camarillo said.
This growth in breakfast sales has garnered several loyal yogurt bar customers. For freshman Milagro Juarez, the bar is not only just a morning snack, it’s a weekly lifestyle.
“I’ve been [to the parfait bar] a couple [of] times with my friend. I think it’s interesting that you can [choose] toppings and basically customize it in any way you can. I usually get banana, strawberry, and apple jacks. My go-to flavor is probably peach yogurt,” Juarez said.
With the increase in popularity after the bar’s debut, this cafeteria update allows students to have more freedom and customization with a rich profusion of flavors, fruits, and grains. It certainly brings a new perspective to mornings at Oxford Academy.
“I think [the yogurt parfait bar] is pretty cool, but maybe if they were to add a second part, the line would go faster. I also really like the woman who serves the yogurt and the variety, even though I think there could be more. [Also,] maybe a different container. Because the way that they have it, it kind of overflows,” Juarez said, unveiling some considerable critiques.
Based on the positive testimonies, the yogurt parfait bar is a flavorful, personalized paradise, awaiting orders from students who need something to push them through an arduous study session or a stressful morning. The bar offers an amazing feature to Oxford breakfast options, paving the way for food and cafeteria services with increased engagement and customization for students.
