The Gamut

Mico Melgar

Mico Melgar, Staff Artist

Having been a veteran of one whole year in Gamut, sophomore Mico Melgar brings stories to life with his illustrations. Not only in illustration, he values the process and perseveres to become a better person through basketball, engineering, and striving to stop procrastinating. Joining the Gamut to illustrate with a purpose, Mico listens to music (Kanye West) to stay motivated while managing deadlines. Mico also finds himself listening to music at 2 a.m. not just for the feeling like he is in an edit—he IS the edit. His favorite animal is a platypus because of Perry the Platypus, and his favorite show is Cyberpunk Edgerunners. “If you’ve put in the work when nobody’s watching… eventually you will bear your fruits,” Mico said. “It is what it is.”
