Danny Banuelos Chaves, a Junior at Oxford Academy, will be entering their second year as a photographer and artist at The Gamut. Danny’s passion for photography began in their Freshman year, during a class that taught them to appreciate the beauty of capturing life’s precious moments. This experience later led them to join The Gamut, where they have gained confidence, made meaningful connections, and rediscovered their love for art. Whether in detailed anatomical drawings, capturing life through their photos, or filling their notebooks with lighthearted doodles (often of a certain sarcastic orange tabby cat named Garfield) art is essential to Danny’s life. Inspired by ancient art and various online artists, Danny’s has developed a unique, personal art style. Outside of art, Danny is also an avid Gamer and music lover, with favorites including The Wonder Girls and Mitski, witty sitcoms such as Parks and Rec, and moving animated films like Coco and Into the Spiderverse. As an animal lover, Danny hopes one day to explore the world and see the wildlife within it. While they appreciate the opportunities of digital art, Danny remains rooted in the simplicity of pencil and paper. Danny is excited to continue their journey in the Gamut and to further explore and enrich the beauty and enrich their photography and art capabilities.
