Dr. Hind is kicking off her 26th year of teaching as the newest addition to Oxford, serving as an English teacher and — more importantly — as the Gamut’s very own advisor! Serving as a life-sized scrapbook, her classroom is full of curious treasures from her fascinating life. An airplane oxygen mask hangs on the wall (part of an art installation she created dedicated to self-care). Personalized mouse pads of her three cats line the counters (one cat named after the protagonist of To Kill a Mockingbird). And a C-SPAN press pass is pinned to the bulletin board (courtesy of a long-standing Gamut tradition and her own journalist experiences in D.C.). As she loves spending time with her husband (a fellow honors English teacher), Dr. Hind photographs their adventures together, featuring everything from punk rock shows to national parks. With all her skills and interests, she truly is a Renaissance woman — and is! Fond of historical costuming, she performs as an actress in the Renaissance Faire during the spring.
