Theoden Melgar, Sports Editor
Stemming from the Greek root for “god” and serving as the inspiration for the Lord of the Rings character of the same name, Theoden Melgar is serving his third year on the Gamut staff as the Sports section editor. His pride and joy is his pet turtle, Timmyden, whom he has miraculously kept alive for eight years now — an accomplishment to be hailed by all. After a long, grueling day of editing for his section and fortifying the ethics of journalism, Theo sits back and feeds his addiction to a little game called “Brawl Stars.” He has studied play styles and pros for hours on end, and has even mastered the craft himself! Theo may be a writer (and pro gamer) by day, but he is a real STEM kid at night; he also involves himself in OA Robotics, being the head of FTC. An insightful fact about Theo’s personal life is he has a budding 7th grade brother at Oxford Academy named Micoden, evidently Theo’s mentee who will surely be achieving the same heights as Theo is.
